The CBSG Working Group Design Timeline

April 5, 2017

With the effort to understand the conservation needs of zoos, we started collaborating with the Conservation Breeding Specialist Group (CBSG).  We created a working group called Designing Zoos for Survival of Species in which we are discussing how the physical environment of a zoo could make a difference in the ability of zoos to contribute more effectively to sustainability of animal populations, in residency, and in the wild.  As a result of this working group we started to develop a graphic guideline we call Designing Zoos for Survival of Species - Design Process Timeline. The goal of this guideline is to serve as an online tool that helps zoo community make informed decisions during planning of any project and, ultimately, make a positive difference in our ability to support survival of species.
